    No Women   > 1 Woman and < 40% Women
     
    Only 1 Woman   40 - 60% Women

Thirty-one percent of the justices on the states' highest courts* are women.  Twenty-one states have almost an equal number of women and men, including Michigan, Tennessee and Wisconsin which currently have more women than men.  Two states, Indiana and Idaho, have no women on the state supreme court.  And, thirteen states have only one woman on the state supreme court.

*Note: Although New York State has a Supreme Court, the highest court is the Court of Appeals and the numbers above reflect the Court of Appeals. In Maryland and the District of Columbia, the highest court is the Court of Appeals and there is no Supreme Court.  In Texas and Oklahoma, there is both a Supreme Court, for non-criminal cases, and a Court of Criminal Appeals.  The numbers above reflect both courts.
